BC Amateur Sport Fund in support of
BC Rugby Representative Players Assistance Program

Established in 1889, the British Columbia Rugby Union (known as “BC Rugby”) the not-for-profit governing body for rugby in the province, representing over 7,600 participants and approximately 60 community-based clubs.

BC Rugby has partnered with the BC Amateur Sport Fund to raise money to benefit its Representative Players Assistance Program. Individual players pay the bulk of the costs related to training and competing with the aim of representing BC and Canada on the world stage. The bursary program aims to raise funds to provide player bursaries for young male and female rugby players playing representative rugby at the provincial and national levels. Based on funds raised, BC Rugby is aiming to offer four annual bursaries of $2,500 each season and provide up to $30,000 in indirect player subsidies to cover competition and training costs. Your support will ensure that talented players from BC don't miss out on the opportunity to represent their province and country due to financial barriers.

Administered by Sport BC, the BC Amateur Sport Fund ("BCASF") is the BC chapter of the Canadian Council of Provincial & Territorial Sport Federations ("CCPTSF"), a Registered Canadian Amateur Athletic Association with charitable status (CRA number 88938 6868 RR0001). The CCPTSF was established in 1980 to benefit amateur sport across Canada by supporting projects like this. The BCASF was previously known as the “National Sport Trust Fund”, or “NSTF”. The Fund changed its name in August 2019 to more accurately reflect its fundraising and granting activities.
